Okay so we decided to start an online journal so our families could keep updated on how we are doing since we have been on our own. We will post pictures and updates. and feel free to comment us whenever. Matt or I will update as often as we can. So for our first post we just decided to give a summary of our lives so far :) Not all post will be this long in the future.....haha
We have been together 2 yrs and been married 9 months now.

We met in a tiny town where seriously EVERYONE knows each other, and where most of Matts family lives. My family currently lives there also but its not a permanent place for them. But for now it makes it easy to visit all our in laws :) We are both close with our families and enjoy every moment we are with them. Both our families enjoy the outdoors, whether it be camping or motorcycle rides. Nature is where the fun goes down! Oh and pets seem to be a popular theme to haha. between all the family in Dallas there are 6 dogs and 6 cats. and of course our kitty also. So there are always fun stories and memories when it comes to our families.

Anyways. We got married at La Jolla beach here in Cali on May 16th. We choose this date because it was Armed Forces Day. Seemed perfect to honor my Daddy (Air Force-Retired) and Matthew of course. Nothing big just small but still special. Matts Gma did our vows and his Gpa was our witness/photographer. So very intimate. We both don't want a big wedding. But we do plan on getting wedding pictures one of these days so I can still buy a dress :) But that will have to wait since the Marines have other plans.

So now that brings us to Cali. I'm officially a Marine Wife. And Matt is finally a fleet Marine! We moved into
our first apartment in July and we LOVE having our own place. We had so much fun buying everything and making it our own. Although sometimes it was a challenge we faced things head on. We recently got the news that Matt will be deployed soon. We are doing everything now to prepare for that. Since we have no kids we are taking this opportunity to save as much money as we can while he is gone. I will be moving back to Oregon to be with family and have support during our first deployment. I'm looking forward to having his family to go through this for our first time. And my parents who have gone through this already in their own lives.
I am very proud of my Marine. And I know this separation will make our love even stronger. It will be hard at times but well worth it. We have plans when he comes back and we will keep our minds on that. I'm excited to get letters from Matt and be able to send care packages and pictures just to give him a piece of home while he is gone. We are both going into this with positive outlooks :) He will fight for me and our country while he is gone and I will keep things moving forward back home. And when he returns things will be perfect again!!!
Semper Fi,
Bethany and Matt
